Add Fruits To The Family's Diet

Are you and your family getting as much fruit on a daily basis? I try and get my kids to have the needed serving for their fruit eating needs. Both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the USDA recommend at least 5 servings of produce per day!

If you can get creative, you can make these average foods fruitilicious!
Add fruit to cereals, oatmeal, waffles or pancakes at breakfast. One of my faves is to add fruit to plain yogurt.

Do your kids love juice? Make sure that you give them 100% fruit juice and not that purple stuff) Keep fruits and vegetables in the line of sight. A bowl of grapes, oranges, bananas, and apples make a colorful arrangement on the table. If you see them, you will eat them that is why we always keep fresh veggies and fruits in a bowl

Make some homeade trail mix with dried fruits. Try berries, melons, or dates for a naturally sweet dessert rather than the usual candy bar, cookie, or ice cream sandwich.

Combine fruit with your main meal courses. Raisins, apples and tangerine slices add a sweet crunch to a salad. Apples complement pork, so the next time you make porck chops, use some apples! Pineapple is great with fish, and orange slices are perfect with chicken.
