I lost both my parents to natural causes and it was very difficult to go through but when I watched an uncle die from Alzheimers I realized his family was loosing him twice. When my parents were gone my memories were of them sitting at the table talking and laughing. When my uncle died the memories of him were of the last 5 years and his family's constant fight with the nursing home to get them to realize there was a person inside that body.
You and your family are in my prayers as you go through this difficult time that God gives you the strength both physically and emotionally to face each day.
I lost mine back in 2007. I started thinking about my parents a lot since I live far far away from them. It is good that you are near by and able to take care of your grandfather.
You have my deepest sympathy, respect and prayers.
I used to work with some of the older patients in the hospital and watched as the family members grew stronger together during these trying times.
I only hope you and your family keep strong for your sakes as well as the patient.
God Bless and Keep You All
I am so sorry that you are going through this right now. Alzheimers runs in my husbands family and he has lost two grandparents to this disease. My thoughts are with you.
